School discipline can include suspensions and expulsions, restraint or seclusion, involvement of law enforcement, corporal punishment, or removal to an alternative school. Students are entitled to basic due process protections when they are subjected to discipline. When faced with any of these types of discipline, students can be discriminated against based on race, disability, immigrant status and other grounds.
