POLICE-FREE SCHOOLS

Since early June 2020 — as the most recent brutal police murders of Black Americans and the resulting demonstrations were finally getting major attention in the media — school districts across the country have made decisions to discontinue police in schools, and in many cases reinvest those resources in school counselors, social workers, and other services to meet students’ needs and truly make students safer.
